Why this site exists

Shopping for backup power is confusing. Watt hours, surge ratings, LiFePO4 chemistry, noise levels and CO shutoff are thrown around without much explanation, and a lot of “reviews” online read like advertising. Backup Watts was started to fix that: short, clear guides that explain what a spec means, what a product can realistically run and where its limits are.

Who writes the guides

Articles are written and maintained by the Backup Watts Editorial Team. The team researches products using manufacturer spec sheets, official product documentation and aggregated buyer feedback from people who have used the equipment. The site does not publish personal bios, photos or credentials, because the work should stand on its own.

The rules every article follows

  • Specs come from official manufacturer pages, and the source is linked in each guide’s Sources section.
  • We never claim to have tested a product in a lab or at home. Our method is explained on the How we evaluate page.
  • Every affiliate relationship is disclosed in plain language, on every page where it applies. See the affiliate disclosure.
  • Unknown specs are marked “to be confirmed” rather than guessed.
